Fate/Unlimited Codes

Most Anime and Manga fans will pretty much already know about the Fate Universe series, otherwise known as Fate/Stay Night which is still popular in most parts of Japan. The series itself struggles between powerful magicians and warriors trying to get the Holy Grail. The story itself in the game can be a little dull for some people; I don't know much about the series, so I am sorry if anyone does read this review and they are fan of the series.

When you play through Arcade mode which is the main story, you can choose up to 17 characters which have their own story/event within the game. If you are a fan of the series you might know the plot for it because this game was in fact a port of the PS2 version which was only released in Japan back around the end of 2008.

Gameplay: If you've played through fighting games before like the Tekken and Street Fighter series, you'll feel at home on your PSP since the PSP doesn't have many Anime fighting games for it except for the Naruto series which is still the most popular anime for most people. However the gameplay controls are easy and the move list for each character is easy to remember, you can also fill your gauge up pull of powerful moves and techniques which can do some damage to your opponents.

In Arcade you'll only be fighting your way through 8 stages/battles. there's also Survival, Training and Missions along with it. However the game does feel perhaps a little too easy on whatever difficulty the game is on, you could easily press the same moves over and over again during each round and you will be kicking and punching an awful a lot. But the Mission Mode will help you learn effective moves and combos for whichever character you choose to play as on other modes.

You'll feel at home on your PSP since the PSP doesn't have many Anime fighting games

There isn't much to talk about on gameplay it's pretty much your stand-alone fighting which has a lot of surprising features and content. You can take a break from the game and watch two computer players fighting each other.

Graphics and Sound: This is a port of the Playstation 2 version, Capcom decided to release only for the Playstation Network. The Anime visuals are pretty impressive and the art for the characters are perfect and clear to view on your PSP.

Like most fighting games you'll have the health bar and the time in the middle on the top of the screen, the gameplay is on 1-1 fights but they take place on 3D environments if you are a fan of the series you might know most areas that are in the game. During gameplay the camera does bring you up close if you pull of a special for each of the characters, there is really no camera issues there on that one.

Most of the game will have Japanese voiceovers so if you are into Anime you won't have to worry how badly the voice acting is if it was in English. If you've watched the Anime series you'll know that Capcom used the actual voices for the characters in the series when it was on the PS2, but do remember that the PSP version is actually a port version of the game. Music does a nice job keeping you on the edge of your seat if you're travelling or at home, there isn't really much to talk about on music it just fits well for it.

Overall: This is only available on the Playstation Network, so you won't be able to find it on UMD in shops. It will also take 591 MB on your PSP if you are worrying about how much space it will take, the price might be a little steep with it being an easy fighter.

There is a lot of stuff you can unlock which will keep you busy for a couple of hours and some missions will be a challenge if you've played other games before that have had missions in. You can also play against a friend if they have it downloaded on their PSP, but I'm not sure if you can play this online if you've downloaded Ad Havoc Party from your PS3. It should come on special offer soon on PSN sooner or later so I would recommend checking this game out if you have the chance.
